N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Registration for North Dakota Farmers Union Summer Camp program begins this week.

Farmers Union youth leaders anticipate a year of record-breaking attendance at youth summer leadership camps that get underway in June.

Camps are divided into junior and senior level age groups and early registration is advised. Specially trained counselors facilitate activities and supervise campers at different four and five-day camps held throughout the summer.

As with all Farmers Union camps, youth organize and operate their own cooperative – a camp store – as part of the educational focus on cooperatives. Other activities include swimming, singing, theme nights, sports, dancing and campfires.

Farmers Union camp counselors follow a curriculum that encourages campers to enhance their public speaking, cooperation and interpersonal skills. Nearly 1,000 young people were involved in the camping program last year.

Farmers Union’s youth program also includes county level day classes for students in grades 1-12.

Camp registration is offered online only at http://www.ndfu.org. For more information, call 1-800-366-8331.
