N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Dickey County Emergency Manager/911 Coordinator Charlie Russell has reported that the Dickey County Sheriff is seeking to create a sheriff’s posse for the county.

Sheriff Chris Estes is seeking to start the posse for help with county happenings. Anyone with a clean criminal record, is at least 18 years of age, is a US citizen and in good health can apply. Russell states that Sheriff’s Posses are created nationwide.

“This is an excellent opportunity for free training and experience for our youth. It’s a chance to use or learn a new skill to make a difference for the citizens of Dickey County.” Russell stated.

Those interested can contact the Dickey County Sheriff’s Office at 701-349-3249.

In other news, the Dickey County Commission has re-instituted the Burn Ban for 2016 following the same guidance that’s been used the last few years. Individuals can burn unless fire danger is in the very high or extreme range. Burning is banned when a red flag warning is issued as well.

Russell encourages individuals to contact the local fire chief before burning.
