(Optimist Club) – The Jamestown Optimist Club has named its Athletes of the Week for the week ending Jan. 7.

High School Girls:
Teah Mielke, Sophomore, Blue Jay Figure Skating
Teah placed 2nd in her compulsory and 1st in both her free skate and survivor events at the Magic City Figure Skating Competition held January 7-8 in Minot, ND.

High School Boys:
Zane Braun, Junior, Blue Jay Wrestling
Zane had a great week last week. He started off with a win over his Devils Lake opponent and then went into the weekend at the Bismarck Rotary Wrestling Tournament. He went 6-1 at the tournament to capture 3rd place. Zane was 7-1 on the week and he is 24-2 for the season.

Female College Athlete of the Week
Kellie Schuneman, Senior, Jimmie Women’s Basketball Team
Kellie scored 26 points on 9-13 shooting, including 3 of 5 from beyond the arc. She was 5 of 8 at the line, collected 4 rebounds, and dished out 3 assists in wins over SD Tech and Oglala.

Male College Athlete of the Week
Jaykob Miller, Sophomore, Jimmie Men’s Wrestling Team
Hometown: Etiwanda, California
Jaykob won 4 of 5 matches to capture 3rd place in the Hastings Quality Hotel Open in Hasting, NE. Jaykob once again met NAIA National qualifying criteria.
