(NewsDakota.com) – Mayville State is known for its ability to put the ball in the basket, but their counterpart in the NSAA semifinals is known for their defense. The Jamestown defense held the Comets to just nine made field goals in the first three quarters as they went on to win 85-73.
Kyra Dewald carried the Jimmie offense in the second half with all 20 of her points coming after half, she knocked down four three-pointers. Jessica Buck had another quality day at the office with 27 points to lead all scores.
Jamestown lead by as many as 18, but couldn’t quite ever put Mayville State away. They got within six at 67-61, but Jamestown was able to separate themselves when the free throws finally started falling.
Buck and Bryn Woodside combined to make their last nine attempts to help seal the game.
Jamestown will play Dickinson State on Sunday at 2pm in the NSAA title game. The Blue Hawks routed Valley City State, 83-56.
