N.D.  (NewsDakota.com). The 2016 District 5 Boys Class B Basketball Tournament started on Friday with three games.  There were no upsets in the first day as everything went according to seed.  

Carrington 81 Oakes 59

Sophomore point guard Garrett Bickett pours in a season high best 33 points, including six 3-pointers to help the Cardinals advance to the first semifinal on Saturday.  Junior Bryce Edland had 18.  Leading the way for the defending District 5 champs was Brody Bartholomew with 18 and Tyler Voightman with 11.

Ellendale 74 Midkota 35

Brennen Vance had 18 points for Ellendale.  Laine Hoyt led the Mustangs with 13.

Lamoure/Litchville/Marion 55 Barnes County North 41

Soohomore Allen Contreras for the Bison had a double double with 21 points and 12 rebounds but it wasn’t enough has the Loboes advance to the second semifinal.  Leading the way for LLM was Brady Warcken with 15.

4:30pm – Barnes County North vs. Midkota (elimination game)

6pm – Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier vs. Carrington (semifinal)

7:30pm – Ellendale vs. Lamoure/LM (semifinal)
