Kelly, Roney Win State Wrestling Championships: Oakes Takes Sixth

(NewsDakota.com) Oakes senior Michael Kelly ended his high school wrestling career with a storybook ending Saturday at the State Class B Wrestling meet at the FargoDome.

Kelly once again won an individual title at 285 pounds, defeating Bradee Schroeder of Carrington 2-0. Kelly was also named as the Class B Senior Wrestler Of The Year; finishing the year at 39-1; the lone loss coming the the Championship round at the Rumble on The Red at the FargoDome.

Oakes’ Grayson Roney was also a State Champion at 126 pounds taking down Garrett Jangle of Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter 5-4.

Coy Awender was third at 106 pounds and Austin Burgard and Jared Roth placed sixth at 113 and 182 pounds respectfully to help Oakes finish sixth in the final standings with 88.5 points.
