N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Valley City entered fourteen wrestlers in the Eastern Dakota Conference wrestling tournament held at Fargo South High School on Saturday, February 13th.

To qualify for the State wrestling tournament held next weekend at the FargoDome each wrestler must place in the top 8 of their respective weight class.

The “Hi-Liners” qualified all fourteen wrestlers for the “State” tournament. 

Valley City was led by its three Region champs Parker Larson at 113lbs, Jake Ashline at 132lbs and Jordan Magnuson at 220lbs. Other great region performances were turned in by Rylee Bjork with a third place finish at 126lbs. Callen Oestern just an 8th grader picked up two wins on the day and placed seventh at 126lbs. Freshman Jaden Oestern went 3-1 on the day at 195lbs and placed third.

Jordan Magnuson was voted as the EDC Senior Athlete of the year and Aaron Larson was the EDC Coach of the year. 

The following five wrestlers also achieved Academic All-State status by qualifying for the state tournament and maintaining a 3.4 cumulative GPA or higher: Callen Oestern, Jaden Oestern, David Peterson, Jake Tangen and Jared Undem.
