CITY  (NewsDakota.com)–The Barnes County girls basketball tournament begins Tuesday at the W. E. Osmon Fieldhouse at Valley City State University.

The Valley City Hi-Liners are the defending champions and top-seed in the tournament.  They will face Litchville-Marion-Montpelier in the opening round at 3:00 p.m.  Fourth-seed Barnes County North and fifth-seed Griggs County Central will follow.

In the night session, second-seed Northern Cass faces #7 seed Finley-Sharon/Hope-Page at 6:00 p.m., and third-seed Maple Valley battles last year’s runners-up, Enderlin to wrap up the first day.

The tournament field has enjoyed an active series of non-tournament matchups, including Valley City and Maple Valley playing to overtime last week, with the Hi-Liners prevailing 63-57.

All 12 games of the tournament will be heard on Q101 KQDJ-FM, with pregame coverage beginning Tuesday at 2:30 p.m.
