Burkett, 91, of Edgeley, ND, passed away Monday evening, January 11, 2016 at the Community Hospital in Oakes, North Dakota. Lyola Marie Burkett was born at Dawson, ND on August 28, 1924, the daughter of Dewey and Lyla M. (Nather) Burkett. She graduated from Sibley High School in Dawson, ND in 1942, and then moved to Edgeley with her parents in 1943. Lyola graduated from Sibley High School in 1942. She moved to Seattle, WA at the outbreak of WWII and worked for Boeing Aircraft as a riveter. She returned to Edgeley in 1945. In 1947 she moved to Pennsylvania to care for her sister, Mae Krier. Lyola also worked for U.S. Steel in Morrisville, PA during that time. Lyola married Donald Foose on April 5, 1947. She returned to Edgeley in 1965, where she has since cared for her sister Carol. She became a resident of Manor St. Rose, LaMoure, ND in August, 2010. Lyola is survived by her two sisters, Mae Krier, Levittown, PA and Carol Grommesh, LaMoure, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Lyla Burkett; brother, Duane Burkett and an infant brother.

Memorial Service: 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 15, 2016 at United Methodist Church, Edgeley, North Dakota with Pastor Becky Holten officiating. Inurnment: Mt. Hope Cemetery, Edgeley, North Dakota.
