CITY (NewsDakota.com) Despite an impressive second half run, the Valley City High School girls basketball team will have to wait another week for the next chance to earn win number one in the 2015-16 season after falling to the Lisbon Broncos 64-55 on Saturday night at the Hi-Liner Activity Center.
The Broncos (5-4, 4-2 Class B Super Region I) had a 13 point lead at halftime, due in part to freshman Payton Ercink’s five three pointers. The Hi-Liners (0-8, 0-6 Eastern Dakota Conference) were able to rally in the second half, coming within a point twice, but were unable to tie or take the lead away from Lisbon.
Ercink made one more three point basket in the second half and finished with a game high 25 points, while senior Brenna Dieterle was the top scorer for VCHS with 22 points.
The Hi-Liners will next suit up, and return to EDC play on January 15 when they play host to West Fargo at 7:30 p.m. Coverage can be heard on KOVC-AM 1490 and NewsDakota.com starting around 7:15 p.m.
