N.D.- The Blue Jay boys hockey team will take to the ice for the first time for 2012, with a Friday night West Region showdown versus Bottineau at Wilson Arena.
The Jays find themselves in seventh place in the WDA with a 1-5 record, good enough for three points. Over-all Jamestown is 1-7.
The Braves are unbeaten in the West Region at 4-0, and their eight points have them currently in the number four spot in the conference. Despite an undefeated WDA record, Bottineau is looking up at first place Bismarck Century, with 14 points, and Bismarck and Minot are tied for second with 10 points. Over-all Bottineau is 5-3. The Braves already have a win to their credit over Jamestown, as the two teams combined for 13 goals back on December 2nd, with the Braves pulling out a 7-6 over-time victory.
The Jays are led by Junior Forward Jake Stilwell with 12 points, including nine goals. In the net, Jamestown has shared time between the pipes with a couple of Junior net-minders. Tygh Yatskis has started five games, and has a goals against average of 3.64, and save percentage of 90.7. Ben Walz has started three games and has a goals against of 5.63, and an 86.7 save percentage. Jamestown has scored 21 goals this season, and allowed 36.
The Braves are led by Forward Logan Millican. The Senior has scored 19 points, including 12 goals, which is tied for most in the state. As a team, Bottineau has lit the lamp 46 times, and allowed 27 goals. Goalie Cody Brooks has started every game for the Braves this season, and has three shut outs, and sports a 3.24 goals against average, and a save percentage of 87.6.
Jamestown will hit the road Saturday, with a trip to last place Dickinson. The Midgets haven’t won a game in the conference, at 0-7, and stand 2-9 over-all. Listen for coverage of both games on 103.1 the Raven, and NewsDakota.com.
