N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A local girl scout is holding an event in Jamestown in pursuit of her gold award, the highest achievement in Girl Scouting.
Nichole Domke of the Jamestown Girl Scouts will be holding an event entitled ‘Personal Protection: Skills for a Lifetime’ on Saturday, January 9th from 10 AM to 1 PM. The event is being sponsored by Jamestown Girl Scouts as well as personnel from the JRCC, Jamestown Karate Association and the Sexual Assault Response Team. Individuals will learn hands-on techniques in order to recognize, avoid or escape potentially dangerous situations.
According to the Girl Scouts organization, only girls in high school can be awarded the gold award by completing a seven-step project:
-Identify an issue
-Investigate it thoroughly
-Get help and build from the team
-Create a plan
-Present plan and gather feedback
-Take action
-Educate and inspire
