N.D.- The Oakes Girls basketball team had a solid start, a solid finish, but it was a rough time in between during their contest against the North Sargent Bobcats on Thursday night, as the Tornadoes fell 68-64 to start District 1 play.
Oakes started the game on a 10-2 run, but the Bobcats went on an 11-0, and did not look back the rest of the way; although the Tornadoes were able to come back to as little as two points, after trailing 43-26 at halftime.
“We started out well, and our energy at the end of the game was even better than we had during the start of the game.” said Oakes head coach Caitlyn Wojahn. “The girls were able to rally, despite what we did in the middle quarters. The time off will help us get a little more healthy, and we’ll be rested enough for Tuesday night against Edgeley-Kulm.”
Rebecca Greenmyer lead the way for the Tornadoes with 23 points, and Nicole Warren added another 17 points. With the loss, Oakes is now 2-5 and 0-1 in District 1 play, and will host the Rebels of Edgeley-Kulm on Tuesday afternoon.
