DICKINSON (NewsDakota)- The Jamestown Jimmies needed one win on Sunday over Dickinson State to win their first regular season conference title since 2018, and that is exactly what they did with a two-run seventh inning in the first game before falling in the regular season finale.

GAME ONE: Jamestown 6 Dickinson State 4

A throwing error in the top of the seventh inning broke a 4-4 tie and lifted the Jimmies to the NSAA regular season title. With Maddie Spaeth and Kayla Quintanilla aboard, Natalie Draper hit a grounder to short but the throw went into the Jimmies dugout, allowing both runs to score the eventual game winning runs after the Blue Hawks tied the game with two runs in the last of the sixth. Abby Blair picked up the win in relief, tossing the final three innings.

GAME TWO: Dickinson State 3 Jamestown 0

A three run bottom of the third inning was all freshman right-hander Ava Jahner (CG SO, 6 H, 2 BB, 5 K) needed in salvaging the final game of the series for the Blue Hawks (28-14, 14-6).  HaiLeigh Davis and Brooke Lijewski had RBI hits in the third off Jimmies starter Hope Ransome in the win.  Kaitlin McCartney and Trinity Gregg each had two hits for Jamestown (32-15, 16-4).

The Jimmies are the 1-seed in the NSAA Softball Championship and will open play on Friday against the winner of Thursday’s game between VCSU and Mayville State.
