CARRINGTON (NewsDakota)- For a second time this season, the Carrington Cardinals softball team came to the plate while behind and proceeded to score thirteen runs in an inning.  Only this time, it was the home first inning and it took every bit of the drama out of a home opening 23-1 win in five innings over Langdon on Tuesday afternoon.

After Langdon (0-3, 0-3) got an unearned run in the top of the first, the Cardinals (3-3, 2-1) sent 18 to the plate and saw 60 pitches in the last of the first, scoring thirteen runs on seven hits before adding seven more in the second and three more in the third inning.

In the game, 18 players had at least one plate appearance for Carrington, and the top seven in the order all had at least two hits in support of Calleigh Hewitt, who tossed five innings of three hit ball while walking two and striking out four.

The Cardinals are back in action on Friday in Region 2 play at Midway-Minto.
