JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The North American Bison Discovery Center welcomed its first bison calf of the season earlier this week. The new calf joins a herd of approximately 20 bison residing in the pastures adjacent to the Bison Center’s museum and is the first of the calves expected this season.

The new baby, and the rest of the herd, can be viewed safely from the observation deck of the Bison Center (open now) when they are roaming through portions of the North Pasture. They can also be seen via pasture tours starting in late May. In addition to catching a glimpse of the new bison calves, visitors to the Bison Center can also view interactive exhibits, explore the children’s area, and browse for gifts in an on-site store.

“We’re excited to welcome the newest member of our herd,” said Ilana Xinos, Executive Director of the North American Bison Discovery Center. “Spring is always an exciting time here at the Bison Center, as new calves arrive and the tourist season ramps back up. The Bison Center’s herd has lived in Jamestown for nearly 30 years, and we know many of the residents consider them their own. We hope to continue sustainably growing the herd here for decades to come.”
