TOLNA (NewsDakota)- On a frigidly cold day, with wind chills at 25 degrees at first pitch, the only heat was supplied by the home teams’ bats. The Nelson County/Midkota Chargers sprayed fourteen hits across five at bats in a 13-1, five inning, win over the Carrington Cardinals on Monday afternoon.
It started immediately, as the Chargers (2-0) scored twice on four hits, all after two outs for the early lead. But in the second, they broke the game open against Carrington (0-3) starter Ethan Roller, scoring seven runs on six hits in that inning alone for a 9-0 lead.
Five Chargers had multiple hits, including three hits, two runs and an RBI from Landon Sundeen. The Cardinal run came on a single by Josh Bickett, which scored Tate Wolsky in the third inning.
The Cardinals begin Region III play on Tuesday afternoon in Steele, taking on Kidder County with coverage on KDAK The Cardinal and the KDAK The Cardinal YouTube channel beginning at 4:15pm.
