NEW ROCKFORD (NewsDakota)- After a week of postponements and waiting, the Carrington baseball team opened its’ 2025 season on Friday with a pair of losses to Hillsboro/Central Valley and Velva/Drake/Anamoose.

Ethan Roller was thrown out at the plate with two out in the last of the seventh inning and the Burros (1-1) scored four unearned runs in the win.  Josh Bickett, Tate Wolsky, Max Whitman, and Ethan Roller all scored in a four-run third for the Cardinals, but a sixth inning sac fly by Bryce Miller was decisive and Chase Haffely earned the win with three shutout innings and six strikeouts.

An error-filled third inning allowed the Aggies to score six runs and they never looked back in improving to 7-1 on the season.  The six runs came after one out and on only one hit in the inning, but Carrington committed four of their six errors.  Taylen Mehring and Jameson Kutz each scored a run for Carrington.
