
JAMESTOWN – Big offense helped Jamestown Blue Jays Softball to a WDA home sweep on Saturday, 12-2 and 11-6 over Mandan at Trapper Lawrence Field.
Game 1: Jamestown 12, Mandan 2 (5)
Jamestown (3-2, 3-2 WDA) ended the game early with a nine-run fifth inning, with Sophia Bond capping the rally with a three-run home run, her first of the season.
Jordan Mikkelson and Avery Graves doubled and drove in three runs each for the Blue Jays. Brooke Jackson, Rilie Wolf and Violet Bohl also drove in runs.
Maddie Hoff (2-2) pitched a five-hitter with five strikeouts.
Sierra Gustavsson and Jorja Wandler scored runs for Mandan (2-3, 2-1).
Game 1: Jamestown 11, Mandan 8
Graves hit a three-run homer, her second, to cap a five-run rally in the second inning. It gave Jamestown (4-2, 4-2 WDA) an 8-2 lead. Graves drove in four in the game.
After Mandan (2-4, 2-2) eventually cut the lead to 8-6, Bond hit her second three-run home run of the day and the season in the bottom of the fifth for the last three Blue Jay runs.
Megan Jarrett drove in two and scored two. Mikkelson drove in one and scored three.
Jaelyn Sloan (2-0) struck out 13 in a complete game win.
Jamestown will meet Turtle Mountain Tuesday in Belcourt.
