
GRAFTON (NewsDakota)- One week after losing twice to a good Velva team, Carrington softball were looking to take out some frustration. Enter the team whose number they seem to have.
The Cardinals jumped all over the Grafton Spoilers the second time through the order and never let up in a Region II opening 15-1 win in five innings in Grafton on Friday afternoon for their first win of the year.
Carrington (1-2, 1-0) had thirteen hits, including a 4-for-4 with five RBI and three run scored day from senior Brynn Smith. It was a 2-0 game into the third, when the Cardinals scored five runs on five hits and an error, punctuated by a Calleigh Hewitt double. Carrington would add four more in each of the fourth and fifth innings.
Hewitt gave up only one run on two hits while punching out seven to pick up her first win of her sophomore season.
Carrington return to action on Monday at 4:30pm in Turtle Lake against Central McLean.
