
MINOT – Any loss is tough to take, but Jamestown Blue Jay Softball took one that really stung on Thursday.
Minot rallied from seven runs down in the bottom of the seventh to take a 12-11 win over Jamestown to complete a doubleheader sweep at the South Hill Complex. The Majettes had won the opener 2-1.
Game 1: Minot 2, Jamestown 1
In their WDA opener, Jamestown (2-1, 0-1 WDA) took the lead in the third. Maddie Hoff and Jordan Mikkelson walked before Addie Graves reached on an error that allowed Hoff to score.
Minot (4-1, 1-0) rallied for the lead in the fourth. Halle Baker tied the game with an RBI double and then the go-ahead run scored on an error.
Sydnee Bartsch (2-1) struck out 11 in pitching a two-hitter for Minot.
Maddie Hoff (1-1) pitched a three-hit complete game and struck out eight for the Blue Jays.
Game 2: Minot 12, Jamestown 11
Jamestown’s offense erupted, pounding out 13 hits as every starter had at least one hit. Brooke Jackson had a double, two triples and four RBI. Megan Jarrett had two singles and two RBI. This helped the Blue Jays (2-2, 0-2) to an 11-4 lead going into the bottom of the seventh.
Then, Minot (5-1, 2-0) stormed back.
McKenna Nygaard brought in the first run in the Majette seventh with a sacrifice fly. Raegan Terrel’s RBI ground out was followed by a Kennedie Erdman RBI single and the Jamestown lead was cut to 11-7. Journey Larson drove in two with a single, the last batter faced by starter Jaelyn Sloan.
Hoff (1-2) relieved and allowed an RBI single to Gabbi Rorher and Minot was within 11-10.
Baker hit a pop fly, but an error then allowed the tying and winning runs to score.
Baker (3-0) struck out six in a complete-game win.
Jamestown will host Mandan in a WDA doubleheader Saturday at noon at Trapper Lawrence Field.
