CASS COUNTY, N.D. (CCSO) – The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is alerting the public to a new scam that has emerged in the Fargo-Moorhead area. Our office was made aware of an incident in which an individual fell victim to a scammer posing as a deputy from our agency. In this scam, the victim was contacted and falsely informed that their incarcerated family member qualified for our Community Supervision Unit ankle bracelet monitoring program. The scammer requested an electronic payment before participation in the program could begin.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office does offer alternative corrections, including ankle bracelet monitoring and 24/7 monitoring programs. However, it is important for the public to know that payments for these programs are only accepted in cash or by money order and the payment must be made in person at the Cass County Jail. At no time will a deputy from our office contact individuals and request payment for these services over the telephone.
If you have questions, please contact the Community Service Unit at (701) 271-2909 | Monday – Friday | 07:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Payment Methods
- Ankle Bracelet: Cash or Money Order – In person at the Cass County Jail.
