
VALLEY CITY, ND (VCSUVikings.com) Valley City State junior Logan Gronberg has been named the North Star Athletic Association Softball Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday. Abby Blair of Jamestown was selected as the Pitcher-of-the-Week.

Logan Gronberg – Valley City State (N.D.) – Junior – pitcher/infielder – Bismarck, N.D. – Gronberg helped Valley City State to a 4-0 start in the North Star Athletic Association, sweeping Dakota State on the road. She batted .688 (11-of-16 at the plate) with two doubles and a home run (1.000 slugging percentage) in the four-game series. She drove in eight runs and scored four times. Gronberg garnered a .706 on-base percentage and a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in 22 total chances (21 put-outs and an assist; she was included in three double plays defensively).
Valley City State (N.D.) also opened their conference season with a 4-0 record sweep on the road at Dakota State (S.D.) on March 27-28. The Vikings ballooned their winning streak to six games, improving their overall record to 15-12 and 4-0 record in the North Star conference contests. The Trojans fell to 4-21 overall record and 0-4 NSAA conference record.
The North Star Athletic Association four-game series continue Saturday and Sunday. This weekend’s slate includes (RV) Jamestown (N.D.) at Dakota State (S.D.), Bellevue at Valley City State (N.D.), and Mayville State (N.D.) at Dickinson State (N.D.).
