JAMESTOWN (NewsDakota)- The Jamestown Jimmies softball team started North Star play exactly how they planned it during their extended spring break.
Behind one huge inning and a masterful pitching performance, the Jimmies took both Sunday games over Mayville State to complete a four-game NSAA sweep inside the Nelson Family Bubble.
Game One: Jimmies 11 Mayville State 2 (5)
An eight-run bottom of the fourth inning blew open a tense, close game as the Jimmies run-ruled the Comets for a second consecutive game. Kayla Quintanilla began the onslaught with a run-scoring double and later in the inning, Maddie Spaeth launched a three-run home run to left to extend the lead to 8-2. Jamestown sent fourteen to the plate in the inning and had seven hits in the frame.
Game Two: Jimmies 6 Mayville State 0
Abby Blair tossed her second complete game and first shutout of the season, allowing only five hits as she picked up her second win of the weekend. Jamestown scored in every inning after the first as Trinity Gregg and Kylie Yanzuk had two hits and an RBI each. Kayla Quintanilla scored twice in the win.
The Jimmies (20-9, 4-0) travel to Madison, SD on Friday to face Dakota State (4-21, 0-4) for a four-game set.
