JAMESTOWN (NewsDakota)- After a three week break, the Jamestown Jimmies softball team opened North Star play on Saturday with a doubleheader sweep of Mayville State at the Nelson Family Bubble.

Game One: Jimmies 4 Mayville State 0

Hope Ransome dominated with a five-hit shutout and Kayla Quintanilla had two hits and three runs batted in the 4-0 win.  Ransome tossed her first complete game of the season and matched her season-high with 10 strikeouts.

Quintanilla had an RBI single in the first and a two-run single in a three-run third inning that provided more than enough support for Ransome.

Game Two: Jimmies 10 Mayville State 2 (5)

The Jimmies fell behind 2-0 after an inning and a half before the bats woke up to the tune of eleven hits, including four in a game-ending six-run fifth inning in a 10-2 win.

Kylie Yanzuk, Kaitlin McCartney, Kate Geiszler, and Amanda Burch all had two RBI each in support of Abby Blair, who allowed only four hits and two unearned runs and threw only 48 pitches in earning her sixth win of the season.

The Jimmies and Comets complete their series on Sunday in another doubleheader with coverage on Jamestown 107.1 beginning at 12:45 PM.
