
BISMARCK – Jamestown Jimmies swept the NSAA Baseball Players of the Week awards for the week ending March 23, with starter Ryan Radkey named as the Pitcher of the Week and outfielder Ben Patton named as the Player of the Week.
Radkey, a senior, came within one out of a no-hitter on Saturday in the Jimmies’ 33-0 win over VCSU in the NSAA Preseason Classic in Dickinson. In his second complete game of the season and first shutout, Radkey (2-1) struck out 10. The Vikings’ Christian Ramirez spoiled Radkey’s no-hit bid with two out in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Patton, a junior was 6-for-10 in the win over VCSU and a 19-4 win over Mayville State, also on Saturday. In the victory over the rival Vikings, Patton was 4-for-5, smashed three home runs, walked twice, drove in eight runs and scored six. Patton also had two hits and two RBI against Mayville State.
Jamestown, who received votes in the latest coaches poll, will open NSAA play on Friday and Saturday with doubleheaders against Dakota State in Madison, South Dakota. Coverage on Friday will begin at 12:45 PM on The Voice of the Jimmies, Jamestown 107.1.
