
BISMARCK – University of Jamestown Track & Field had a fifth-place finish for the women and a third-place finish by the men Saturday at the Maurauders Outdoor Opener at MDU Resources Community Bowl.
Three women placed for the Jimmies in track events. Paige Erhardt was eighth in the 100-meter hurdles at 16.41. Sara Sletto took eighth in the 200 meters in 28.34 Brooke Olson ran a personal best 5:22.70 to finish eighth in the 1500 meters.
Quinn Bassingthwaite won the pole vault to highlight the Jimmies’ effort in women’s field events. Bassingthwaite cleared 3.20m. Madalyn Neumann was third in the high jump at 1.55m, with Sara Bonn fifth at 1.50m. Erhardt placed fourth in the javelin at 38.10m. Ruth Harris made fifth in the triple jump at 10.07m. In the discus, Heather Okeson was sixth at 36.39m with Makenzie Gibson seventh at 35.19m. Long jumper Sydney Ulrich was eighth at 4.59m.
Cole Campbell and Clark Lortscher were second and third respectively in the 1500 meters, the best performance for Jamestown men in track events. Campbell’s time was a personal-best 4:09.88, while Lortscher ran in 4:10.26. Carl Church was sixth in the 400-meter hurdles at 1:01.70.
In field events, Dawson Sedivec won the hammer throw at 55.13m. Victor Ramos was fifth at 47.37m. Tyler Dean was second in the discuss with a throw of 45.44m. Samuel Reiland was eighth at 40.90m. In the high jump, Ethan Duval placed second at 1.87m, while Ethan Lieb finished fifth and Riley Johnson was sixth, each jumping 1.72m. Evan Schmit was fifth in the shot put at 14.16m, with Jobe Rystedt throwing 14.08m for sixth. Kobe Irmen took fifth in the javelin at 48.90m. Jayden Bittner placed eighth in the long jump at 5.56m.
Both teams will compete next Saturday at the Saint John’s Optimistic Open at Collegeville, Minnesota.
