Minot, ND (NewsDakota.com) – The New Rockford-Sheyenne Rockets held on to take home the 5th place award at the Class B Boys State Tournament in Minot beating the Pirates 59-57.

The Rockets got started early taking a 16-2 lead right away in the 1st quarter. They would hold a 18-7 lead after the 1st. Hankinson would begin the slow road back after that as they’d cut the lead down by 1 in the 2nd quarter as the Rockets would take a 31-21 lead to the locker room.

Hankinson would come back hard in the 3rd quarter even taking a lead in the 3rd quarter. The Rockets wouldn’t go away though as they take the lead back at 46-43 going to the final frame. The 4th quarter would be a back and forth affair all the way with it being tied at 57-57 in the final 10 seconds. Bennet Meier then would drive the left post and lay it off the glass to get the 59-57 lead with 5 seconds left. Hankinson would be unable to respond and the Rockets claimed the 5th place trophy.

The Rockets finish their season in 5th. Hankinson claims 6th.
