
MARYLAND HEIGHTS, MO – Sam Feamster and Hayden DeMars scored twice each Sunday as Liberty defeated University of Jamestown Division 1 Men’s Hockey 5-2 in the quarterfinal round of the ACHA D1 Men’s Championship at the USA Arena at Centene Community Ice Center.
The Jimmies (23-12-2-0) had killed off three Liberty power plays in the first period before the Flames (22-6-3-0) scored on their fourth opportunity, with Feamster tallying with 3:35 left in the first frame.
Zane McDonald evened the game for Jamestown on a power play at 9:19 of the second period, assisted by Kaleb Percival and Jacob Thomas. Feamster scored again with a man advantage for Liberty at 18:42 and LU led 2-1 after two periods.
Brad Fortin, who had scored the overtime winner in Jamestown’s Saturday victory over Grand Canyon, tied the score again 51 seconds into the third period. Mason Smith answered for Liberty at 2:14 for a 3-2 Liberty lead. DeMars scored at 17:21 and into an empty net with 41 seconds to play.
Liberty had 41 shots on goal to Jamestown’s 35. Brandon Weare made 36 saves in the Jimmie net.
