
UNIVERSITY PARK, IL – Struggles for University of Jamestown Men’s Volleyball continued Saturday with losses to fifth-ranked Cornerstone University and Governors State at GSU’s Athletics and Recreation Complex. The losses extended UJ’s losing streak to eight matches.

Cornerstone (14-4) mostly controlled the match, with 36 kills to 30 for Jamestown (4-15) and a hitting percentage of .438 to the Jimmies’ .141.
Ernest Broaster had 11 kills and an ace for the Golden Eagles. David Galanes hit 10 kills and Joshua Beaumont had five block assists.
Tomasz Swiderski scored 12 kills, an ace, a block and a dig for Jamestown. Michal Niemiec had nine kills.
Governors State def. Jamestown, 25-20, 25-15, 25-19
Again, the Jimmies (4-16) were decidedly out-hit. Governors State (19-4) had a 34-24 advantage in kills and hit .364 to Jamestown’s .014.
Daniel Lopez had 12 kills to lead the Jaguars’ offense. Pedro Castillo had eight kills, two aces and eight block assists.
Swiderski and Tysen Myers had eight kills each for Jamestown. Swiderski also notched three aces and four digs.
Jamestown will play the first of four matches in Arizona against Park University Gilbert on Monday in Phoenix.
