Jamestown, ND (NewsDakota.com) – The Region 1 Boys Basketball Tournament began on Monday March 10th with the Quarterfinals round. Winners go on losers go home.

Game 1: D2-1 Medina/Pingree/Buchanan 53-50 D1-4 Maple River

Game 2: D1-2 (10) Hankinson 65-58 D3-2 Edgeley/Kulm/Montpellior

Game 3: D1-1 (7) Oakes 61-46 D2-4 Linton-HMB

The Oakes Tornadoes are back to the Region Semifinals for the first time since 2021 as they ride a big 3rd quarter to the 61-46 win over the Lions. The game started slow for both teams as it would only be 12-12 after the 1st quarter of play. Oakes would begin to pull away in the 2nd however with a 26-18 lead at the half. The 3rd quarter is where it’d really come together as they’d go on a 10-1 run to start the half and take a 49-30 lead to the final quarter. They would do enough to close it out winning 61-46.

Linton-HMB’s season ends with a 15-8 record. Oakes is on to the Region Semifinals.

Game 4: D2-2 LaMoure-LM 39-36 D1-3 BCN

The Loboes survive and advanced against the Bison coming back in the 4th to win 39-36. The Loboes started out well taking a 13-8 lead through the 1st quarter. That lead would evaporate in the 2nd quarter as the Bison battled back to make it 22-21 LaMoure at the half. The Bison would then go on to out score the Loboes in the 3rd quarter 12-6 to taking a 33-28 lead. The Loboes would respond with an 8-1 run to reclaim the lead. They would end up winning 39-36 as the Bison ran out of time for a final 3 point shot.

The Bison’s season comes to a close with a 16-7 record while LaMoure survives to play Oakes in the Region 1 Semifinals.
