Jamestown, ND (NewsDakota.com) – The Class B Girls State Basketball Tournament began in Jamestown on Thursday March 6th with the quarterfinals.

Game 1: #2 Kenmare-Bowbells 71-52 #7 Grant County-Mott/Regent

For the first time in 14 years the Honkers advanced to the Semifinals of the State Tournament as they beat the Jaguars of GCMR 71-52. The Honkers got started early with a huge 21 point first quarter being led by Mashae Miller who had 19 on the first half. The Honkers would lead through 1 21-6 and then 43-21 at the half. The Jaguars would begin to battle back in the 2nd half as they’d start to cut into the lead making it 55-37 after 3 quarters. The Honkers would lock it down in the 4th quarter however and bring home the victory 71-52.

Kenmare-Bowbells will play tomorrow at 1:00 PM in a semifinal. GCMR will play in a consolation semifinal at 6:30 pm tomorrow.

Game 2: #3 Central McLean 60-32 #6 Langdon Area/Munich

The Cougars in their 2nd appearance at the State Tourney advanced to the semifinals for the first time with a dominant win over the Cardinals. The Cougars and Cards were back and forth for the first few minutes but eventually the Cougars started to pull away. They’d build a 15-7 lead through 1 and then building it up to 36-19 at the half. They’d go on a 16-0 run to start up the 2nd half taking a 56-26 lead into the 4th. They’d win 60-32.

Central McLean will play in the first semifinal tomorrow against the Honkers at 1:00 PM. LAM will play against GCMR in the consolation semifinal at  6:30 tomorrow night.

Game 3: #1 Lewis & Clark-Berthold vs #8 Linton-HMB – 6:30 PM

Game 4: #4 Benson County vs #5 LaMoure-LM – 8:15 PM
