TUCSON, AZ – Runs keep piling up in Arizona for Jamestown Jimmie Baseball.

After the Jimmies scored 11 Tuesday in defeating Mount Marty, Jamestown scored 17 more Wednesday on 16 hits in a 17-4 pounding of Park University Gilbert in the Tucson Invitational Games in the Kino Sports Complex, UJ’s third straight win and sixth in their last seven games.

With RBI singles by Jordan Singleton in the first inning and Julian Romero in the second and fourth, Jamestown (13-5) led 3-2 after four.

Then came a 10-run fifth inning.  Alex Alva singled in the first two, Ben Swennumson doubled in three, Keegan Neva doubled in a run and Ryan Muizelaar hit a grand slam, his second of the week and his fourth home run this season.  Muizelaar also hit a grand slam in a win last Saturday over Benedictine University Mesa.

Four more tallied in the Jamestown sixth on an RBI single by Varen Sabino, a Singleton RBI double, Alva stealing home and Will Bachman driving in another with a single.

Kai Mayfield (2-0), the first of four Jamestown pitchers, worked the first four and a third innings, striking out four.

The Jimmies’ final two games in Tucson will be against Ottawa University Arizona in a doubleheader on Friday, followed by another doubleheader with Ottawa in Surprise, Arizona on Saturday.
