MESA, AZ – Two rallies gave University of Jamestown Baseball a doubleheader sweep in Arizona on Saturday.

Jamestown rallied from 6-1 down to win the first game 7-6 over Benedictine University Mesa on Saturday at Mesa High School, then scored seven runs in the seventh inning to win the second game 10-4.

Game 1: Jamestown 7, Benedictine University Mesa 6
Tristan Madison hit a go-ahead two-run home run in the top of the seventh to complete the comeback for the Jimmies (8-4). Alex Alva had walked to start the inning.

Benedictine (3-7) left one runner on in the seventh inning, two in the eighth and the bases loaded in the ninth.

Jamestown scored four runs in the fifth inning to cut their deficit to 6-5. The first run scored on an error, the second on an infield single by Julian Romero, the third on a pinch-hit triple by Will Bachman and the fourth on a double by Chase Burke.

Ben Bohlmann (1-0), the first of three UJ relievers, earned the win with six strikeouts in three scoreless and hitless innings. Joe Hart struck out the final batter of the game for his first save. Starter Avery Liestman allowed six runs and 10 hits in four innings.

Game 2: Jamestown 10, Benedictine University Mesa 4
Madison hit his second go-ahead homer of the day in the seventh, scoring Jordan Singleton, who had walked, for a 5-4 lead for Jamestown (9-4).

Ben Patton was hit by a pitch and Romero and Riki Okamoto walked to load the bases before Burke walked with the bases loaded and the Jimmies led 6-4. Ryan Muizelaar then capped the rally with a grand slam, his third home run this season.

Earlier, Landon Runge had a sacrifice fly and Burke hit an RBI single for UJ.

Kai Mayfield (1-0) worked the last inning and a third scoreless and hitless in relief for the victory with a strikeout. Luke Zimmer started, went five innings and allowed two runs and four hits with three strikeouts and a walk.

The Jimmies will again play a doubleheader against Benedictine in Mesa on Sunday.
