
Fargo, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—The South Border (SB) Mustangs won the class B dual championship for the second straight year with a 34-33 win over the Velva Aggies. The Mustangs were the number 1 seed with Velva the number 2 seed. The Mustangs defeated Carrington 43-22 in the opening round and followed up with a convincing 53-14 win over Bowman County-Beach (BCB) in the semifinals. In the title match SB was leading 31-9 after the first 8 matches (13 total). Velva would take the lead back with 4 consecutive pins at 33-31 heading into the final match at 160 pounds. Cole Stock (152-pound state champion) would defeat Maddox Campbell (8th at 160) 2-1 in TB 1 of OT.
Oakes finished in third place with an opening round win over Williams Count 31-30 before falling in the semifinals to Velva 43-27. The Tornadoes would defeat BCB 41-22 in the third-place match.
Carrington finished in 7th place losing to SB in the first round and falling to New Salem-Almont 43-23 in the consolation semifinals. The Cardinals would end the day with a 56-18 win over Pembina County North in the 7th place match.
Fifth place match had Williams County knocking of New Salem-Almont 39-27.
Class A finals had Bismarck Legacy winning 39 to 26 over West Fargo Sheyenne in the title. Third place went to Bismarck with a 51-23 win over Bismarck Legacy and fifth place had Williston defeating Fargo Davies 36-35.
Bismarck won the girls dual championship with a 39-31 win over Minot. Third place was Bismarck Legacy over Central Cass 48-23. Fifth place had Dickinson over Grand Forks 48-30 and seventh place had Lisbon defeating South Border 51-24.
