JAMESTOWN – At just the right time, Jamestown Blue Jay Boys Basketball has hit a good stride.

Following a win on Friday, Jamestown used 62 combined points from Thomas Newman and Braxton Perkins Saturday in a 92-72 win over Minot North in the Blue Jays’ final home game of the regular season at Jerry Meyer Arena.

Newman scored 39 points with 10 assists.  This was the second straight game and sixth this season that Newman has scored at least 31 points in a game.  Braxton Perkins scored 23.

Jamestown (4-16, 4-13 WDA) expanded a 47-43 halftime lead by working an 18-8 run to begin the second half.

Kaiden Helm led Minot North (7-14, 4-13) with 15 points.

Jamestown has back-to-back wins for the second time this season.  The win assured that the Blue Jays will finish no worse than eighth in the standings, meaning that they will host a play-in game for the West Region tournament late next week.

Before that, Jamestown will close the regular season Tuesday at Dickinson.  Coverage of the varsity doubleheader will begin at 6:30 PM on Tuesday on The Voice of the Blue Jays, Jamestown 107.1.
