
BLOOMINGTON, IL – Eight different players scored goals as University of Jamestown ACHA Division 1 Men’s Hockey dominated Illinois 8-1 Friday in the first round of the Men’s Midwest College Hockey Tournament at the Bloomington Ice Center.
Chase Visser and Darius Makse tallied first period goals for the Jimmies (22-11-1-0). Carter Johnson made the lead 3-0 in the second before Alexander Matveev scored the only goal for the Illini (18-12-3-0). Jordan Baranesky and Jacob Thomas scored later in the second period for Jamestown. Zane McDonald, Brad Fortin and Mario Decapite all tied in the third period.
McDonald, Johnson, Baranesky, Thomas and Matthew Poole had two assists each.
Brandon Weare needed to make only 16 saves as the Jimmies out shot Illinois 38-16.
UJ will play Midland in a semifinal game on Saturday.
