MINOT – Jamestown’s magic touch of Thursday didn’t last against the Magicians Friday.

Ryan Roteliuk scored twice with an assist Friday as Minot defeated Jamestown 6-1 in a semifinal game of the West Region Boys Hockey Tournament at MAYSA Arena.  The loss moves the Blue Jays into a state qualifying game on Saturday.

Minot (23-1-0-0) broke on top only 43 seconds into the game on the fourth goal of the tournament by Mackley Morelli, but Jamestown left the first period down just 1-0.

Roteliuk scored 3:18 into the second for a 2-0 lead for Minot, but Jackson Maddock scored for the Blue Jays (13-8-1-1), his third goal in two days, at 12:59 and Jamestown was down only 2-1.  1:17 later, Teegan Strand restored the two-goal lead for Minot.

Roteliuk, Easton Panasuk and Oliver Thompson scored in the third period for Minot, with the goals by Panasuk and Thompson on the power play.

Leif Hanson made 34 saves in goal for Jamestown.  Minot had a 40-22 shot advantage.

On Saturday, Jamestown will play for a spot in next week’s state tournament in a qualifying game with Bottineau-Rugby.  Coverage will begin at around 10:45 AM on The Voice of the Blue Jays, Jamestown 107.1.
