VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A School Facilities Advisory Committee assigned by the Valley City Public School Board will soon be sending back a recommendation to the school board with a list of ideas and suggestions on how they think the school district and community can best address the current issues and needs of the school facilities. The advisory committee, which has been meeting since the beginning of December, has discussed several possible solutions for the school district including looking at options to replace the aging 1919 high school which has additions from the 1940s, 50s, and 70s.
Superintendent Josh Johnson said after the school board receives the recommendation from the committee, the district will be sharing information with the community through several communication methods (website, social media, local media, etc.). In the event that the committee asks the school board to consider a school construction referendum, the schoo district would be scheduling community meetings to share this importation information, answer your questions, and collect feedback.
He said while the school board is at least a few weeks out from receiving a recommendation from the committee, this release is intended as an update for the community on the recent work of the School Facilities Advisory Committee. The committee will be meeting on at least one more occasion in the month of March.
If you have questions, thoughts, or ideas that you would like to share with the committee or school district, please reach out to the school district and/or our committee members. A list of committee members has been attached below.
