JAMESTOWN – It was senior night for the season finale for the Blue Jay girls hockey team Tuesday night at Wilson Arena as Jamestown hosted Devils Lake and it was the future that shined.
Two eighth graders teamed up for the goals and a freshman in net pitched the shutout as the Jays took down the Firebirds 3-0.
Izzy Maddock scored two power play goals, her second and third tallies of the season, and Maci Fischer scored her fourth of the season on a breakaway.
Three freshmen struck for assists, Stella Belzer, her ninth, Anna Lunde, her fourth and Grace Allmaras, her eighth.
It was only fitting that senior Ellie Krueger registered an assist, her 11th of the season, as she closed out her senior year with a team-leading 25 points and she became fifth all time in scoring in the history of Blue Jay girls hockey.
Ady Bakalar stopped 18 shots and picked up her first career shutout. The Firebirds got 29 saves from goalie Delany Parker. The freshman finished the year with 907 saves, the most in the state.
Jamestown ends the season at 5-17-1. Devils Lake wraps up at 0-21-0-1.
