JAMESTOWN, N.D. (JRMC) – The spirit of generosity and adventure was alive and well at the 19th annual Polar Pig Walk the Plank & Chili Cook-off, held Feb. 1 at Stutsman Harley-Davidson. Originally organized by longtime Harley Owners Group (H.O.G.) members Marla and Don Wegner, the event once again brought together the community in support of Jamestown Regional Medical Center Hospice.
This year, Polar Pig reached an incredible milestone—surpassing $300,000 raised for JRMC Hospice since its inception. These funds provide critical support to ensure compassionate end-of-life care for patients and their families. This year alone, $19,405 was raised, directly benefiting the care provided by the JRMC Hospice team.
Braving the winter air, dozens of participants in a wide variety of costumes took the plunge, leaping into the water in the name of hospice care. Spectators cheered as JRMC team members, community members and families joined in the fun, embracing the cold for a cause. The event also featured a chili cook-off and silent auction.
“This event is more than just a fundraiser—it’s a celebration of the care and compassion that hospice provides,” said Kyla Stoltz, director of JRMC Home Health & Hospice. “Hospice is often a difficult topic to discuss, but events like Polar Pig help us bring awareness and support to the families we serve. We are deeply grateful for the H.O.G.s and everyone who participates.”
This event’s success is thanks to the dedication of many, including Stutsman Harley-Davidson, the local Harley Owners Group (H.O.G.s), American Bikers Aimed Toward Education (ABATE), the Individuals Motorcycle Club and the Lady Individuals. Their passion and commitment make a lasting impact on hospice care in the region.
