Valley City, ND (NewsDakota.com) – The final day of the Class B District 1 Tournament was played at the Bubble on the campus of VCSU on February 17th.

Region Qualifier 1: #2 Oakes Tornadoes 49-30 #5 Tri-State Tigers
The Oakes Tornadoes are back to the Regionals for the 10th straight year. They led the entire way getting off to a 10-8 lead early they’d build it up to 24-16 at the half. The Tigers would battle back in the 3rd to make it 32-26 and they’d cut the lead down to 5 in the 4th. However the Tornadoes would lock it down and collect the win as they’d shut down Tiger scoring for the rest of the game winning 49-30.
Oakes is now 15-7 and goes to the Region 1 Tournament as the #3 Seed from District 1.
Tri-States season comes to a close at a 11-11 record.
Region Qualifier 2: #3 Wyndmere-Lidgerwood 56-47 #6 Richland Colts
The Warbirds were able to battle back after a slow start to survive the Colts and advance back to the Regionals. The game started well for the Colts as they took a 9-8 lead after 1. The Warbirds would battle back in the 2nd however and take a 22-20 lead at the half. The Warbirds would continue to control the pace of play with Emmerson Johnson leading the way in the 2nd half taking a 37-33 lead through 3 then winning 56-47. Johnson would end the night with 25 pts.
Wyndmere-Lidgerwood advances onto the Region 1 Tournament as the #4 seed from District 1.
Richland’s season comes to a close with a 8-13 record.
Championship: #1 (RV) Maple River Raiders 66-52 #3 Sargent County Bulldogs
The Raiders claimed the top spot in District 1 riding a strong 2nd half to victory. The game was close through out the first half as neither team was able to pull too far away. Maple River would lead 20-14 through the first and 40-35 through the half. Sargent County’s scoring would dry up though as they would go 7/31 in the 2nd half. Maple River would lead 55-41 through 3 and ride that to a 66-52 victory. Violet Richman had a dominant performance with 33 points.
Maple River claims the District 1 Title and will play against Kidder County in the Region 1 quarterfinals.
Sargent County will claim the 2 seed from D1 and play EKM in the Region 1 quarterfinals.
