BISMARCK – Starting fast, University of Jamestown ACHA D1 Men’s Hockey had a stirring end to the regular season.

The Jimmies scored five goals in the first period Saturday in a 5-1 defeat of UMary at the Starion Sports Complex.

Brenden Vulcano started the barrage for Jamestown (21-11-1-0) at 4:01.  Darius Makse scored his 17th goal 1:17 later.  Jacob Thomas made the UJ lead 3-0 at 6:07.  Keaton Cline scored at 10:01 and Wyatt Johnson completed the outburst at 14:43.  Jordan Baranesky had three assists.

Michael Heitkamp spoiled the shutout by scoring for UMary (22-13-0-0) in the third period.

The win gave Jamestown the second seed in the North Division of Midwest College Hockey for its postseason tournament.  UJ will play in the first game of the tournament Friday against Illinois in Bloomington, Illinois.
