Casselton, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—The Carrington girls wrestling team scored 101 team points to finish in sixth place at the 2025 east region wrestling tournament. Nine individual girls also qualified for the state tournament finishing in the top eight of the region. Central Cass won the tournament with 196.5 points easily outpacing the rest of the field with Grand Forks finishing in second place with 168 points. West Fargo United (WFU) finished third with 129.5, Lisbon was fourth with 128.5, and Pembina County North(PCN) finished in fifth place with 127.5
The Cardinals had 14 girls overall with 9 advancing to next weeks state tournament in Fargo starting on Thursday. Khendra Garcia (124) and Jazmyn Ybarra (136) both advanced to the finals but came up short in the title match. Garcia (23-6), junior, defeated Lily Skaurud (WFU) by fall at 1:16, Vada Hoffman of South Border (SB) by fall at :52, and a major decision over Brianna Mayer of Central Cass (CC) 10-2 to reach the finals. Marlie Stremick (47-8) of PCN defeated Garcia by fall at 2:42 to capture the title at 124 pounds.
Ybarra (35-9), senior, pinned Molly Carr (WFU), 1:16, Olivia Lindstrom (Devils Lake) 1:42, and defeated Grace Lemar of CC 1-0 in TB 1 (3OT) to reach the finals. Kaylee Kurz (36-6) of Grand Forks (GF) defeated Ybarra by major decision 10-2 to claim the 136 pound title.
Juliet Davis (112) finished in fourth place, Aysa Reimche (106) finished in 6th place, was seeded 11th coming into the tournament. Kenzie Jost (130), seeded 14th, finished in 8th place. Madelina Ciubotareanu (148) finished in 6th place, Grace Inglish (100) 8th, Neavaeh Sorenson (170) 8th, and Jillian Parker (190) 8th.
Grand Forks had 3 champions including Kurz at 136 over Ybaraa, Kathryn Sullivan at 250 over Ava Gulleson of CC by fall at :33, and Brylee Hartsoch won by TF 18-2 over Mylee Christianson of Valley City at 142.
Anna White (CC), 100 pounds defeated Bria Brossart (Rugby) 7-0, 106-Charlotte Crowston (PCN) defeated Taryn Roesler of Kindred by MFFL, 112-Ava Litsey (SB) defeated Elizabeth Orness of Devils Lake by fall at 3:18, 118-Victoria Sanchez of Valley City defeated Alyssa Nitschke od SB by fall 3:08, 130-Alexis Schneider of Napoleon-GS defeated Shayla DeBlaere of GF by fall at :46, 148-Webeline Nakline of Fargo over Reagan Ulmer (SB) 4-3 (TB1), 155-Aubrey Boesen of Breckenridge-Wahpeton over Ava Carlblom (Lisbon) fall 3:30, 190-Koiline Govergo (Fargo) over Nevaeh Buffett (Lisbon) fall :43.
