Oakes, ND (NewsDakota.com) – The Oakes Tornadoes Boys basketball team rose in the most recent media polls to #9 despite not playing a single game last week.

The Tornadoes made their season debut in the top 10 last week after claiming the #10 spot. They were supposed to play a District 1 game in Enderlin on Friday February 7th however the game would be postponed due to weather and set for February 15th.

Despite the lack of games they would rise to #9 in the polls as they become more recognized by statewide media. They are currently on a 6 game winning streak and are 10-1 since losing to Leola-Frederick (a Class A equivalent from South Dakota) back in December.

Oakes Head Coach Jeremy Skoglund said, “It’s exciting to be ranked and to see these guys get recognized for their hard work.”

Their next game is tomorrow night February 11th at home against Sargent County. You can catch all the action on KDDR The Tornado.

If Oakes were to win 2 of their 3 games this week they would clinch the #1 seed in District 1.
