JAMESTOWN – Jamestown Jimmie Softball earned two wins Friday inside the Nelson Family Bubble, defeating Dickinson State 4-2 and UMary 8-5, improving to 3-3.

The Jimmies were down 1-0 through five, then rallied for three runs in the sixth inning. Trinity Gregg led the frame off with a bunt single, then moved to third on a double by Lauren Weigel. Maddie Spaeth then drove in both runners with a double and Jamestown led 2-1. After Kaitlin McCartney and Amanda Burch singled to fill the bases, pinch-hitter Amanda Burch drew a bases-loaded walk for the inning’s third run.

Hope Ransome drove in the other run with a seventh-inning single.

Abby Blair (1-1) allowed a run and six hits in six innings with a strikeout and a walk. Maddie Hairgrove got the first two outs in the DSU seventh, also allowing a run and a hit. Ransome was then brought into the circle and struck out HaiLeigh Davis to end the game.

Jamestown 8, UMary 5
Jamestown had a quick start when Trinity Gregg hit an inside-the-park home run and Lauren Weigel hit a line-drive home run to right in a two-run first inning.

The Jimmies plated two more in the third inning on a run-scoring single by Burch and a sacrifice fly by Kate Geiszler.

Two fourth-inning runs for the Jimmies scored on a Marauder error and Weigel added an RBI single in a two-run fifth inning.

Hope Ransome (2-1) struck out five in five and a third innings while giving up four runs and seven hits. Laura Ransome pitched the final inning and a third.

Jamestown will play twice on Sunday inside the bubble, meeting Dakota Wesleyan at 8:00 AM and Mayville State at 12:30 PM.
