JAMESTOWN – Benedictine Mesa took a four-set win over University of Jamestown Men’s Volleyball Thursday in the Jimmies’ home opener in the UJ Invitational at Harold Newman Arena.
The seventh-ranked Redhawks won 23-25, 25-18, 25-22, 25-18.
Josh Beymer had 13 kills for Benedictine Mesa (2-0). Jack LeDuff had 12 kills and eight digs.
Tomasz Swiderski led the Jimmies (2-7) with 18 kills and also had two solo blocks and two set assists. Michal Niemiec had 14 kills, six digs and three set assists. Gabriel Ocasio had 39 set assists.
Jamestown hit .375 in winning the first set, but struggled to .162 in the third set and .038 in the fourth. Overall, the Jimmies hit .200.
On Friday, Jamestown will play back-to-back matches with Viterbo and 10th-ranked Missouri Valley, starting at 5:00 PM at Harold Newman Arena.
