Delmer John Rohrbeck, 87, Valley City, ND (formerly of Marion, ND) passed away at SMP Health-St. Raphael February 3, 2025, after a brief battle with cancer.  A celebration of his life followed by military honors for Delmer will be held in the Lerud Mathias Funeral Home Chapel Saturday, February 8 at 1:00 PM.  He will be laid to rest in Lakeview Cemetery this spring.  The service will be live streamed, then archived, on a link provided along with his obituary on his tribute page at www.lerudmathias.com.  An online guestbook is available there as well.

 

Delmer John was born to Kenneth and Anna (Roorda) Rohrbeck on June 12, 1937, on the family farm near Ypsilanti, ND.  He joined the US Army in 1958.  After being honorably discharged, he began working for Burlington Northern Railroad and as a farmhand with several local farmers.

 

In 1964, he married Beverly Klug in Marion, ND.  He began his farming operation in 1966 and his trucking business in 1989.  He truly enjoyed his draft horses and spent many summers going to horse pulls around the US.  He took home many first place trophies and teamsters awards.

 

Delmer was on the Marion City Council, a member of the  Marion Lutheran Church where he was on the  council board, and he served with the Marion Fire Department.

 

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Beverly; daughters, Kimberly Kay (Troy) Larson of East Grand Forks, MN and Heidi Ann (Jeffrey) Fandrich of Litchville, ND; granddaughter, Courtney Kay of Jamestown; step grandchildren, Christian, Ashley, Lex and Melissa; great grandchildren, Kaynon and Rylin, Bennett, Lillian, and Kathryn; sisters, Bertha (Cornie) Paulson, Betty Wright, and Kathy Todd; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Stacey; brother, Kenneth; sister, Beverly Wright and her husband James; and brother-in-law, Darrell Wright
