VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Valley City Monthly Bluegrass Jam Sessions are set for Saturday, February 8 at the Vault Coffee Shop and Arts Center, 223 Central Avenue North in downtown Valley City.
From 11:00 am – noon it’s the Beginner Jam/Class designed for novice to early-beginner string musicians. The instruction focuses on back-up playing techniques for two-chord songs, allowing instant participation in the jam session.
Then from 1:00 – 5:00 pm regular jam session is for acoustic bluegrass musicians with their beginning skills in place. Participants are encouraged to bring numbers they wish the circle to play and sing together, focusing on bluegrass standards.
Acoustic instruments allowed for the regular jam session are fiddle, mandolin, six-string guitar, five-string banjo, dobro slide guitar, and upright bass. The ukulele is also allowed for the beginning jam/class.
There is no cost to participate and listeners are welcome. The jams are sponsored by the Bluegrass Association of North Dakota and the Vault Coffee Shop and Arts Center. For more information call John Andrus at 701-721-8296.
