MINOT (NewsDakota)- In a matchup of the top two-ranked teams in Class A, number one showed why they are just that.
Behind a raucous atmosphere at South Prairie High School on Monday night, the top-ranked Royals ended Carrington’s eleven game winning streak with a convincing 69-40 decision to remain the only undefeated team in Class A.
It was a difficult start for Carrington, who fell behind 22-5 early in the second before a 10-0 run thanks to five each from Harper Kollman and Marah Johnson to cut the lead to 22-15. But South Prairie-Max (16-0) put the game away with a 22-0 run to extend the lead to 44-15. Carrington (15-2) were led by Kollman’s ten points.
The Cardinals are back in action Thursday night, hosting Thompson with coverage on KDAK The Cardinal beginning at 6:45 PM. With a win, Carrington would clinch a first round bye in the Region II Tournament.
